TNT Innight Belgium will start a pilot with smart glass technology which is used to optimize the sorting process of packets.
During the project, the smart glasses indicates which sorting should be used for packages scanned by the glasses. The staff thus always have both hands free and can therefore be more productive. It is expected that productivity improvements will amount to 10 to 20 percent . In addition, the error probability will be reduced thanks to the smart glasses. With the start of the pilot at TNT Innight logistics sector seems to warm up for augmented reality (see also Google Glass). Since early this year Bio Bakery De Trog in the Belgian town of Ypres is using smart glasses to sort and distribute loaves. The smart glasses has led to a reduction in the error rate by over 60 percent, while productivity raised by more than 25 percent.
